Insane to pay $300 for eyeglasses

Being an online retailer and before that a consumer it is insane to pay over $300 for a pair of eyeglasses. I have done a lot of research and analysis before starting my own store for eyeglasses and it seems that opticians are bound to over charge for eyeglasses because of petty expenses that are added on selling eyeglasses at store.

Though there are many online stores that has sprung in the recent past years and some of the leading eyeglasses stores are globaleyeglasses, zennieoptical and 39dollarglasses but still there are other online stores that offer branded as well as non branded eyeglasses at a very competitive price. It really feels great to see the market being competitive and the prices are slashed even more.

Here comes the era of online shopping for eyeglasses where in you can save, shop from your territory and receive it without a hassle of driving your car.

Different Lens Material for Prescription Glasses and its Use:

Hi Index LensesPrescription eyeglasses lenses material that has come a long way use to be just made of mineral glasses. With technological development different types of lens material and design are available which enables people suffering from vision disorder to have a clear vision. Earlier the only lens material available was mineral glasses lenses which are heavier and fragile though these lenses are scratch resistant. Due to its fragile nature the frames that were available were also limited which included bulky plastic frames or metal full frames.
With advancement of technology new lens material were introduced like plastic, Polycarbonate and Hi-index lenses. Among these lenses plastic lenses are the most popular as these lenses are lighter as compared to glass and cost effective. To add to its benefits these lenses are tintable and can be used as prescription sunglasses thus you can enjoy sun protection along with clear vision.

The other popular lenses that are been used are polycarbonate lenses. Polycarbonate lenses are lighter, thinner and impact resistant as compared to plastic lenses. Due to its impact resistant nature these lenses are highly recommended for children and with rimless frames.

Hi-index aspheric lenses are the most advance form of lenses available and these lenses are the thinnest of all and are lighter. These lenses are recommended if your prescription is high and are available in three different indexes 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74. Due to its thinness nature theses lenses offer great cosmetic benefits as the high prescription lenses will not look like a coke bottle.

We recommend that you add anti-scratch coating on lenses for plastic, polycarbonate and hi-index lenses as these lenses are more prone of getting scratches. With anti-scratch coating the life of the lenses will definitely be increased and it will also offer 100% UV protection. To add to its benefits it is recommended that you apply anti-reflective coating on the lenses as these coating will offer great cosmetic look as well as it will allow 100% light to transmit through the lenses.

Your Eye Health Is Important:

For most of us eye health is like a jargon. Dental health and other health issues are addressed immediately as it has a physical effect on our body but for eyes we procrastinate to get it checked regularly. As per my personal experience we tend to overlook symptoms of eye problem thinking that it’s a minor headache or try to avoid using prescription eyeglasses and avoid visiting a doctor. We only visit the doctor’s office only when the pain gets severe.

We forget that our eyes go through maximum exertion throughout the day, causing irritation on eyes, puffiness, itching and aching. These symptoms should not be overlooked as it may ultimately damage your eyes. Here are some useful information’s on how to take care of your eye health.

1.      Regular eye checkup:

Regular eye checkup once a year is a must if you are suffering from vision disorder; and once in two years is a must if you do not have any vision related issues. With regular eye checkup you will not only get your prescription updated but will also be aware of any other eye problems like dry eyes, allergies and other eye related issues which will definitely help you get relief from other vision related problems. Computer vision syndrome is another vision related problem that many of us are unaware of but these issues can be diagnosed with regular eye checkup.

2.      Protecting your eyes:

Eyes are sensitive and protecting your eyes from sun and dust is as important as protecting your skin from these. We use sun protection lotions whenever we are engage in outdoor activity as sun burn is evident but we overlook protecting our eyes as problems are not evident but generally when our eyes are exposed to bright sunlight, we generally get headache and feel fatigue.

Prescription Sunglasses protect our eyes from UV rays and decreases the light intensity that penetrates our eyes thus offers a cool vision even on a bright sunny day. It is also proven that sunglasses protect our eye from a common eye disease like cataract. The major cause of cataract is the UV rays and if we use sunglasses regularly, we will be able to prologue causing cataract.

3.      Proper rest to your eyes:

Like rest of your body your eyes also need rest and there are few home based remedies that you can follow to pamper your eyes. Proper sleep is one of the major factors. If you work long hours on computer it is advisable that you take proper precautions and rest while working on computer else it will lead to computer vision syndrome.

Once a while, you can pamper your eyes by cold compression. To do so you can use a tea bag submerged in cold water. Place the wet tea back on your eyes and leave it for one to two minutes. Repeat the process for two to three times. This will help your eyes to re-hydrate and protect your eyes from allergies and dryness.

4.      Healthy diet:

Though it is clinically proven but it is said that few vegetable and fruits help your eyes. Eating right not only help protect your eyes but will overall help you stay fit and healthy.

Purchasing prescription eyeglasses online:

Yesterday I was just reading through few blog’s and I came across one article which says “Best online glasses” The editor mentioned that he use to work for industry and recommended that you need to be careful while searching for eyeglasses online. He specially focused on cheap prescription eyeglasses online and cheap glasses do not last long. He has also mentioned that the frames and the lenses that used are of cheap imported quality and the lenses are of low quality but I am not too sure what he actually means. I have been in optical business for more than 10 years and have worked for one of the reputed online retailer for 4 years and as per my experience this has not been the case.

To focus on cheap quality imported frames well as per my experience there are only 2 types of frames designer frames and non branded frames. The only difference of these 2 frames are one has a brand name and the quality of course will be perfect as compared to high price and then next lot is Non-Branded frames. Non branded frames are much cheaper than the branded frames. Material will be the same just that the finishing will be a concern but compared to the price you are paying it is good so I actually do not understand what cheap quality imported frames are??

Moving onto low optical quality lenses. Most of the online retailers use branded lenses like Essilor and Zeiss however there are some stock lenses that they use. Before delivering the glasses the lenses pass through several tests where the prescription accuracy and other tests like UV protection is tested for the lenses. If a lenses of Essilor and non branded lenses have the same results under what basis has he mentioned low optical quality lenses?

To tell you frankly I have been wearing glasses which are sold at $6.48 online for the past 6 months and I have had no problem with the eyeglass frame or the lenses. If you are looking to buy prescription eyeglasses at reasonable price do think of opticstoreonline.com we offer large variety of prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses.
